Double Twist Music Manager Review

Although I often use Pandora or Last.fm when I want to listen to music on my Droid, there are times when it is nice to listen to my own downloads and playlists.  One thing that is lacking on the Droid is a music manager similar to iTunes for transferring music and video files.

I started out by mounting the SD card after connecting the Droid to a PC which does work, but it is not as intuitive as I felt it should be with one of the latest gadgets.  After doing some research on the web I found a program called Double Twist.

Since I have several devices that I use at different times for transferring music, I was not looking to add another manager, but after trying out Double Twist, I found out that it is an excellent solution to replace the other managers that I have been using.  Along with getting the job done for my Droid, it also works for my Zune and Sirius Stiletto 2 and many other devices that you may have. Test Google Chrome OS in Virtual Box

With Google’s presentation of the Google Chrome OS this week there have been a lot of comments in the press both good and bad.  Some comments feel that the OS is destined to fail and others think that it could take over the OS world.  In my opinion and after trying it out, I think it is way too early to judge.  Google itself has warned that this source code is extremely early and there will be changes before the launch, this early launch is not even a beta yet, so there are a lot of future possibilities before the launch which is expected near the end of 2010. It is important to remember that Chrome OS is not being pitched as a desktop replacement OS, but something that will work better on netbooks and other devices where a quick loading is needed and applications and saving will be done in the cloud.  The appears to be an enhanced Chrome Browser that allows you to get to the web applications that you want to run, it will be very interesting to see how it progresses and I can see it as a viable solution on several devices.  You can learn more about Chrome OS from the project site if you want additional information. Synchronize Bookmarks on a Dual Boot System

Since installing and using Ubuntu 9.10 more on my dual boot Windows/Ubuntu system I learned quickly that I am lost without my bookmarks in Firefox.  One of the first things I did was install Xmarks Free Bookmark Sync on Firefox in both Operating Systems.  Now, whether I am using Vista or Ubuntu, if I add a Bookmark it is available regardless of which operating system I am using.  I have found this to happen most often if I am using Vista and discover something that I would like to test in Linux.  Rather than having to write it down and reboot, I can just save the bookmark and open it up after I have booted into Ubuntu. ScribeFire Firefox plugin for Linux Ubuntu Blog Posting

As I stated in my last post, I am trying to use the Ubuntu OS more on my dual boot system, but I am not accustomed to a lot of the programs so usually end up reverting back to Windows when I can’t find something comparable.  As I am writing blogs in Ubuntu, I am really missing LiveWriter for the features and easy publishing.  In searching google for an alternative, it seems that I am not alone.  After installing WINE to see if I could use Windows LiveWriter with that, I discovered that it is not an option due to the framework.  I am not crazy about running a virtual box, which is one of the solutions I found.  If I need to run Windows, it is probably easier to just reboot in Vista and run it from there.
