I'm not sure when they started allowing it, I have done it a few times over the years and most recently around Christmas time with my daughters phone. As far as I know you can still export, I can't verify with any of my phones since they are all smart phones without backup assistant.

When did Verizon start allowing Backup Assistant to be exported? I've been on there looking for that option and I thought you could only print out your phone list. Also, does this method still hold true for the new Backup Assistant?
