As stated on the Medibuntu website at Medibuntu.org, Medibuntu is a packaging project dedicated to distributing software that cannot be included in Ubuntu for various reasons, related to geographical variations in legislation regarding intellectual property, security and other issues. For this reason, some of this software cannot be included in the Ubuntu distribution but it is quite possible that it is legally available in your country for your intended purpose. Please make sure you are aware of the legality in your country before installing anything.
Ubuntu Karmic makes it easy to add a software repository without using the command line. You start by adding the software source by going to System -> Administration -> Software Sources.
Click on the tab for Other Software and click the Add Button at the bottom of the page. (this screenshot was taken after adding the medibuntu package)

After you click add a box will open up asking for the repository address to add to the APT line, at this point you need to enter:
deb http://packages.medibuntu.org/ karmic free non-free
When you click close, you will see a message about the software being out-of-date and needing to be reloaded. Click the reload button.

You will also get an error message about the public key not being available which we will fix next.
Now open the Synaptic Package Manager by going to System -> Administration -> Synaptic Package Manager
At the top of the page click the search button and search for medibuntu.

Scroll down and select the medibuntu-keyring package and Mark for Installation, then click Mark again to confirm. You will get an error message about it not being authenticated, which is fine because that is why we are including the keyring. Click apply twice and you will not get any error messages regarding authentication within the medibuntu packages.
Next you can go to the w64codecs and Mark for Installation and then click apply to install them. Feel free to add any other packages including Google Earth and Skype. The Medibuntu packages will now be available any time you use the Synaptic Package Manager so you can add additional packages at a later time without having to go through the process of adding the repository and it will also allow you to look for installed packages with upgrades available.
