A couple days ago after updating to OS 5.0 I noticed that Verizon had pushed the “My Verizon” application to my Storm. I wasn’t sure what it was so I checked online to find out that the My Verizon application was launched earlier this year for trackball BlackBerries to allow users to check their minutes and data usage, view account balance, make payments, view plan, add/remove features and change their voicemail passwords directly on the handset.
It sounded like a useful application so I decided it was worth a download. The first few times I tried, the download failed, even after a battery pull so I gave up for a couple days.
A couple days later I decided to give it one last try and the download worked. After downloading and installing the message below popped up asking if I wanted to grant Trusted Application Status and I selected Yes.
As you can see in the screen below there are several options available for managing your account. I typically check this information on a PC when I need it, but it is nice to know that I can verify my usage if I am traveling or away from a PC. I can also see a possibility of wanting to update a Friends and Family number without going to a PC.
I think I could live without this application due to the features being available on the website, but it is a nice to have application that I will most likely keep on my BlackBerry just in case I need the information.
